Have you heard about SPARC? The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority’s first, soon to be launched Employee Volunteer/ Ambassador Program?
Well, here’s a quick synopsis of the program.
SPARC is envisioned to serve as an avenue that fosters volunteerism and ambassadorship amongst staff, providing opportunities for employee development through empowerment, training, and preparation to become leaders within and outside the Authority. SLASPA employs an estimated 450 staff of whom more than 50% are desirous of becoming volunteers/ ambassadors within the organization. As such, it is integral that an Employee Volunteer Program aimed at creating an environment where volunteer activity amongst employees is valued and encouraged be developed.
Globally, the introduction of an EVP to an organization has welcomed transformation of all forms, from attitudes to actual productivity and most importantly organizational culture. Companies around the world have embraced the importance of employee volunteer programs, and so too must SLASPA, recognizing the value that providing service opportunities to employees brings to the Authority, the employees, and by extension Saint Lucia.
