Throughout October SLASPA will join in efforts to recognize the contribution and dedication of Air Traffic Controllers Around the World. This year's International Day of Air Traffic Controllers will be celebrated under the theme “We Are Professionals” which further underpins the broader One Sky, One Voice direction of IFATCA.
The International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers Association (IFATCA) is the recognized international organization that brings together air controller organizations around the world. The federation represents in excess of 5000 air traffic controllers from more than 130 countries. In Saint Lucia, the Saint Lucia Air Traffic Controllers Association (SLATCA) was established in 1985 with a mandate to promote the safety and efficiency of air traffic control. The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Port Authority (SLASPA) currently has on staff 31 ATC operating at the George F L Charles and Hewanorra International Airports.
The Office of Air Traffic Services within the Airport Operations Division of SLASPA is the overseer of Air traffic management for the Authority. Through the Manager in charge, the Authority seeks to ensure conformance with related protocols, procedures, and objectives of local, regional, and international regulatory authorities.
