The Fire Officers of the Crash Fire Hall (CFH) Station at Hewanorra International Airport observed the ground operations of Amerijet’s Boeing 767-200. This forms part of the continued training programme of the Airport Airside Operations.
The officers were educated on the aircraft’s cargo operations as well as the location of pertinent electrical components, evacuation procedures and gained further insight as to the type of cargo transported. In addition to the walk around of the aircraft, the officers also visited the flight deck.
Airport Manager, Mr. Edgar Stephen believed the exercise was timely, given the number of aircraft accidents which have occurred and reported in the international media.
Mr. Lynden Leonce, Duty Manager- Airside Operation stated, “We intend to continue the routine of familiarisation and safety exercises and will extend this to other carriers moving forward. Similar training activities is earmarked to address essential areas including: Airside Safety Awareness and Communications.
