The organization in 2017 inaugurated the Job Fair; a non-profit event aimed at supporting young adults and secondary school leavers in accessing jobs, training, volunteerism opportunities and information on the impact of an effective curriculum vitae.
Principal Consultant at AdVizze Consulting Inc., Kezia Preville discussed the core goals of the initiative. According to her; “The majority of young people enter the workplace unprepared. The Job Fair is an avenue we saw necessary to expose them to corporate Saint Lucia, presenting a unique opportunity to acquire knowledge about industries and the inner working of respective organizations. Our commitment to mentor these young people goes beyond a two-day activity we consider it a lasting responsibility.”
Youth unemployment is a global crisis contributing to approximately 40 percent of the world’s unemployed population. During the first quarter of 2019 Saint Lucia’s Central Statistic Department recorded 25.9 percent of youth unemployed. Government in conjunction with the private and public sectors can intercede to boost youth employment. The Job Fair demonstrated Private Public Partnership’s (PPP’s) as a tool to promote the same.
SLASPA congratulates AdVizze Consulting Inc. for conceptualizing and executing an event of this nature. The Authority through its CSR Program will continue to engage in activities like these to stimulate the development of young people.
